Situated 28 kilometers northwest of Beijing, this park had long been a favorite summer retreat of the emperors. Occupying 1,600 hectares, its focal point is the Incense Burner Peak (Xiang Lu Feng) - 557 meters above sea level. On the top is a huge rock resembling an incense burner. Cable trams drag tourists to the peak where a magnificent view of Beijing can be enjoyed.



Other tourist attractions include Spectacles Lake, Xiangshan Temple, Twin Lakes Villa, Temple of Brilliance, Glazed Tile Pagoda, and etc. The scenes in the park change seasonally and attract tourists all year round. It is a spring beauty. It is a summer retreat. It is a winter attraction for snowcaps. It is most famous, however, for its autumn when the hills are aflame with red leaves. The famous Xiangshan Hotel is located inside the park. Tourists can stay over night in the hotel to enjoy the park"s beautiful night view.
