Day by day itinerary: Tour Code: BGPT-010

Day 01: Hiking Cross the Wild Great Wall at Shixiaguan ( L D )
Our English speaking tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Beijing around 8:00am. Then you have a 1.5 hour drive from your hotel to the starting point of Shixiaguan Great Wall (Stone Gorge Pass Great Wall), officially known as the Ancient Badaling Great Wall.

Shixiaguan Great Wall is a wild and unrestored sectiond of the Wall. Our tour guide will escort you to hike along the wild and overgrown Great Wall for about 7 kilometers with 4-5 hours. Hiking Shixiaguan Great Wall is really a challenge. If you are an enxperienced hiker, this section of the Wall is a good place to stretch your legs. Shixiguan Great Wall is less touristy with few domestic tourists.

After the hike on the Wall, drive to a local inn near Jiankou Great Wall for overnight

Day 02: Hike from Jiankou to Mutianyu Great Wall ( B L D )
After breakfast, start your hike through the village below the Zhengbeilou Tower at Jiankou Great Wall. Jiankou Great Wall is located in Huairou District, 10 km to the west of Mutianyu Great Wall. This section of the Great Wall is said to be the most ruined and wild, totally unrestored, a paradise for Great Wall hikers.

To walk from Zhengbeilou Tower at Jiankou Great Wall to Mutianyu Great Wall, you have to climb the mountain for one hour up to the Wall on the top. This one hour mountain climbing is most challenging part of the hike.

Once getting to Zhengbeilou Tower, you will start your walk from Jiankou Great Wall eastward to the restored Mutianyu Great Wall, a 2-hour walk along the ragged and overgrown wall and crumbling towers. This two hour hike is very scenic and photgenic with stunning views and photo opportunities.

After reaching the western tip of Mutianyu Great Wall, you will have 1-1.5 hour walk along the restored section at Mutianyu. Mutianyu Great Wall is the prime section of the Ming reconstruction of the Great Wall, mostly covered with luxuriant vegetation in the range upon range of mountains. It presents a distinctive seasonally attractive view.

At the end of your hike, you walk down from the wall through the walking pathway or take a cable car or toboggan down. Cable car and toboggan are optional.

After the 4-5-hour hike, drive to Gubeikou Village and stay in a local inn for overnight.

Day 03: Hike from Gubeikou to Jinshanling Great Wall ( B L D )
After breakfast, you will start to hike Gubeikou Great Wall. Actually Gubeikou Great Wall is basically divided into two sections - the east Panlongshan section and the west Wohushan section. You will be escorted to hike from the east section of Panlongshan Great Wall to Jinshanling Great Wall.

Panlongshan Great Wall is totally unrestored, wild and original, less touristy and one of the most beautuful sections of the Great Wall around Beijing. The hike on Panlongshan Great Wall takes about 2 hours.

Then walk down the wall to keep off the military zone standing between Gubeikou Great Wall and Jinshanling Great Wall. You will walk on the fields below the wall for about 1.5 hours. Then climb over a hill and walk down to the Jinshanling Village where you can walk up to Jinshanling Great Wall. Walking on Jinshanling Great Wall for about one hour.

Photographers know that the best place to take pictures of the Great Wall is Jinshanling. It is said that there are more overseas Great Wall climbers in Jinshanling than Chinese. People also say that anyone who has climbed Jinshanling is not interested in seeing any other part of the Great Wall, as it retains its original Ming Dynasty outlook, and so vividly reflects the full ethos of that epoch.

At the end of your hike, stay overnight at Jinshanling Great Wall Hotel for overnight.

Day 04: Hike from Jinshanling Great Wall to Simatai West
After breakfast, you will be escorted to hike from the east section of the Great Wall at Jinshanling to the west section of Simatai. It is a 3-4 hour's hike passing through 15 towers and 2 passes.

Jinshanling Great Wall is wild and mostly unrestored, one of the most beautiful section of the Wall in China with many photo opportunities.

We have to get off the wall at Kylin Tower, and cannot hike further to Simatai Great Wall due to the temporary closure of Simatai Great Wall. At the end of your hike, you will have a late afternoon lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, your will be returned to your hotel in Beijing
