Itinerary:
Pick up from your hotel around 9:00am. First visit the National Theatre from its outside. The newly finished egg-shaped theatre is designed by the French architect Paul Andreu, the designer of the terminal of the Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris. Located west of Tian'anmen Square, the egg-shaped structure is 46.68 meters tall and reaches a depth of 32.5 meters and is covered with more than 20,000 titanium tiles.
Located in the heart of Beijing, near Tiananmen Square, the theater is a modern-style building which stands out from its surroundings. Shaped like a tear drop, the silver theater has sparked debate among domestic experts on whether such a modern design was appropriate for the center of Beijing. However, it was listed among the top ten architectural miracles by the U.S.-based Journal Business Week for its energy-saving and environmentally friendly design.
After finishing the visit to the National Theatre, move on to the Xidan Commercial Street. Xidan Commercial Street is located on Xidanbei Dajie, west of Tiananmen Square. Xidan Commercial Street is one of the most famous traditional commercial areas in Beijing, filled with department stores, food and beverage shops, entertainment and banking sectors. It is in a golden commercial area in Beijing.
The central area of the Xidan commercial street is the recreation square, Xidan Cultural Square. It is the largest venue for cultural entertainment along Chang'an Street, congested of underground restaurants, markets, cinema, bowling alley, swimming pool, rock-climbing club and the largest mirror palace in the country.
Then proceed to visit the Financial Street. The Beijing Financial Street is located on the east side of the second ring road, the area between Fuchengmen and Fuxingmen. Financial Street, as part of the city's strategic plan to position Beijing as an international center for business and finance, BFS is a 35 block area, offers a collaborative environment for foreign and domestic financial institutions and Chinese regulatory agencies. Located in a historic district, west of the Forbidden City and inside Beijing's innermost "2nd Ring Road", the Financial Street has gathered over 300 famous companies for finance, telecom, etc., including three big financial regulatory and supervisory institutions-The People's Bank of China, China Securities Regulatory Commission and China Insurance Regulatory Commission, and three big commercial banks-Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Bank of China and China Construction Bank.
After the financial street, you will be arranged to visit the China Millennium Monument. The China Millennium Monument is one of the top tourist attractions of Beijing. This wonderful architectural splendor was built to welcome the new millennium. It is nestled in the south of Yuyuantan Park. There is Military Museum in the east and CCTV in the west. The China Millennium Monument covers a total area of 4.5 hectare in which the building area is of 44,000 square meters.
Then visit the last attraction for this morning - CCTV Tower. CCTV means China Central Television-the highest point (405 m) in Beijing . Located at Xisanhuanzhouglu, the 238-meter-high Central Radio and TV Tower is Asia's second tallest. The CCTV tower is one of the modern wonders of Beijing. The CCTV tower not surprisingly is the home of many TV and Radio station broadcasts, including CCTV1 thru CCTV9. The 242-meter high "Moving Cloud Hall" is a place to hold luxury celebrations; Standing on the platform at 238 meters high, you can enjoy the whole view of Beijing. At the 221 meters height, there is a rotating dinning hall, which is the highest of its kind in Beijing.
Your buffet lunch will be arranged at Taiyichun Restaurant. After lunch, you have some free time enjoying shopping at the fresh water pearl market. Then drive to the National Stadium, alos named nest for its outside sightseeing. Situated at the Olympic Green, it has a floor space of 258,000 sq meters. The National Stadium in Beijing is the main stadium for the 2008 Olympic Games. The 100,000-seat stadium has been conceived as a two tiered solution with exclusive areas incorporated within. All tiered seats have an unobstructed view of athletics. Lowering the field reduces the amount of "finish skin" on the facility, the vertical scale of the facility, and the height of vertical transportation, easier access to the roads around the stadium
After the National Stadium ( nest ), move on to National Swimming Center ( Water Cube ) nearby for outside look. It is designed by the design consortium composed of the China State Construction Engineering Corporation, China State Construction International (Shenzhen) Design Co Ltd, PTW Architects (Australia) and Ove Arup (Australia). "Water Cube" design was based on a natural pattern of organic cells and the formation of soap bubbles. Contained within the center's blue bubble walls are the pools for the Olympic swimming and diving competitions, along with seating for 17,000 spectators. Taking the structure of soap bubbles as inspiration (and mimicking nature's way of filling 3-d space most efficiently), PTW Architects and Arup gave the $200 million Cube an elegant, light-weight design: a rectangular box covered in iridescent bubble wrap.
Then drive to the Central Business District (CBD). The Beijing CBD or Beijing Central Business District is a projected part of Beijing city. It was stated in the Urban Master Plan of Beijing Municipality, approved by the State Council in 1993, that Beijing Central Business District would be planned and constructed in the part of Beijing, with a total area of 4 square kilometers. This area has the unique district advantages in terms of its infrastructure facilities, rich land resources and busy business atmosphere. It has about 3000 companies, among which are 500 multinational corporations, 570 foreign representative offices, 160 foreign-funded banks, insurance companies and agencies as well as over 200 intermediary services. Skyscrapers in the Beijing CBD: China World Trade Center Tower 3, Beijing Yintai Centre, Beijing TV Centre, Fortune Plaza, CCTV Headquarters, Jing Guang Centre, China World Trade Center
Finally come to the most famous commercial street in Beijing - Wangfujing Street for a short visit. Wangfujing is Beijing's most trendy shopping district. It is a blend of international shops and narrow alleys of stalls. There are also cinemas and big bookstores. Foreign Language Bookstore, the largest in China is a good recourse for travelers. The main street is pedestrians and ideal for walking. At the south end, Oriental Plaza provides exclusive high fashions shops. Even if you don't want to buy anything, it's a nice area for watching people and learning something, finding the richer, more trendy side of Beijing.
